In 2003 I started writing and editing my own work until the market turned, and I joined the Army to support my family. The Army trained me to create GIS products (maps) and utilized my skills to edit those products and briefings for six years including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010.
While in the reserves I volunteered to edit the works of aspiring authors within online communities. During this time I was submitting my own writing to other editing firms, and I found that often the editor just altered my story to fit their personal style. I was shocked by how rigid some of these editors were. I felt like I was getting processed through a machine that didn’t care about where I was trying to take the reader, or how I wanted to take them there. There was almost no interaction at all with the random person the firm assigned to edit my manuscript. It was terrible.
In 2015 I created Superior Story to provide a more personal editing experience. Your artistic expression is important, and I strive to edit with your intentions and desires in mind. I believe in teamwork throughout the editing process to preserve your ideas, which is why I offer initial and follow-up consultations. It is important that I understand what you want to do with your story so I can preserve what makes it yours. I take pride in my professionalism and am confident that I can provide the editing services you desire.
